Frequently Asked Questions
Eight questions for the creator of PunLiners.com, Daniel Riehs:
Q: What happened to bigpuns.com?
A: I sold the domain bigpuns.com in late August 2004. This was not planned and came about after a surprise, unsolicited offer was made for the name. All of BigPuns.com has since been re-branded as PunLiners.com, where it will hopefully remain for years to come.
Q: Who wrote all of these hilarious puns?
A: "Original" puns were written by myself. Submitted puns were written by viewers such as yourself.
Q: Why are original puns no longer added to the site?
A: I started this site while in high school, and, as tends to happen, my interests in humor writing have changed since then. If you're interested in learning about what I'm currently up to, I suggest you subscribe to the newsletter.
Q: Sometimes when I try to search for a pun or make a submission I am told that the page cannot be refreshed without resending information. What am I doing wrong?
A: The problem that you're describing seems to be due to a bug in the database. You aren't doing anything wrong, and no damage will be done to your computer if you hit retry, so I suggest that you keep hitting the retry button until the form submits. Incidentally, if you encounter this problem while submitting a pun, you will eventually get a message saying that your pun could not be submitted due to it being a duplicate submission. Your joke was submittedthe first time. It is only by pressing the retry button that you have made a duplicate submission. This bug is clearly annoying, but if you are patient enough to continue hitting retry and ignore the resulting error messages, it really shouldn't affect the actual functionality of the site.
Q: I submitted a pun three weeks ago, and it's still not on the site.
A: I'm not always real timely about validating puns. If this happens again, just send me an email and gently suggest that I stop reading Fark and get to work validating submissions on my own site. (And that wasn't a question.)
Q: Would you mind if I claimed your original puns as my own and used them to impress girls and gain popularity?
A: Please read the Copyright-Information Page.
Q: If I subscribe to your newsletter, will my email address be added to any third-party mailing lists?
A: Absolutely not. Check out the privacy statement.
Q: How can I unsubscribe to the PunLiners.com newsletter?
A: Go here to unsubscribe.
